Guaifenesin
- Guaifenesin is a product commonly found in medications for relief of symptoms of chest congestion and cough associated with colds, bronchitis, and/or other breathing illnesses.
- Guaifenesin is an expectorant that works by making phlegm less viscous and also increases coughing in some people in order to expel phlegm.
Use of Mucinex 600 mg extended-release tablets
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
- Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- This medicine is intended for adults and children 12 years of age and older.
- Take with or without food.
- Take the tablets whole. Do not chew, break, or crush.
- The usual recommended dose is one or two extended-release tablets every 12 hours. Do not exceed 4 tablets in 24 hours
- Doses may be changed in special circumstances, so always follow your doctor or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more medicine than you should, talk to your doctor or go to hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a missed dose.
Side effects of Mucinex 600 mg extended-release tablets
- Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may report:
- headache
- stomach pain
- nausea
- Vomiting
